Let’s assume that you already have tickets, you are packing your bags and looking forward to your vacation.
As a rule, charters and regular flights arrive in Colombo, less often in Hambantota, but you still have to get to your resort.

How to do this?

  1. To order a transfer, you can do this by writing me a private message, information and car options can be found here .
  2. If you are traveling light, want to save a lot of money, or don’t get too tired from flying, there is a great option – the railway.
Trains are not just a way to travel, they are part of the authentic culture of Sri Lanka, given the right planning. Otherwise, the beginning of your holiday can turn into a nightmare.

How to have fun and save money

A few days ago, the express 187 was launched from Undernaike Airport (Colombo). It runs 24 hours a day and will take you straight to Colombo Fort, where the railway station is located.
Trains are very popular with both locals and tourists. The network is so extensive that you can get to any point on the Island, but only if you are traveling in a first-class carriage. The Colombo-Kandy or Ella-Nuwara Eliya roads offer breathtaking views of tea plantations, tropical forests and coastlines.

Tickets are divided into three classes: first, second and third.
First class offers air-conditioned carriages with reserved seats ( book in advance ).
Second class – reserved seats, carriages with fans.
Third class – tickets can be bought at the station, a trip with open windows, how many people will fit… It is advisable
to book and buy tickets a week or at least a few days in advance, they sell out quickly.

If you buy your ticket in advance, enjoy the journey, Observation Deck tickets on the Colombo-Ella trains offer the best views.

Shall we fly?

If you have a long way to go, for example to Jaffna or Trincomalee, you can use the local airline Cinnamon Air and fly there quickly. The same company flies from Sri Lanka to the Maldives, if you want to travel.
